課程概述

This course will provide an overview of the practice of global health governance particular the World Health Organization (WHO) and its emerging and current issues. Students will gain insights and analysis on the operational mechanism behind the scenes of the highest decision body of the WHO, namely, the World Health Assembly (WHA). Two existing international health-related regulations will be introduced specifically emphasizing the roles of WHO and Member States in field practices. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic brings challenges and opportunities as well for the global health governance and practice. Students will learn how developed or developing countries and their diplomats defend collectively their interests and shape global health agenda in the real world. Students will also explore the new pandemic legal instrument which is currently under developing. 

課程目標
At the end of the course the students are expected to:
1. Analyze the roles, relationships, and resources of the entities influencing global health (GH-1)
2. Display critical self-reflection, cultural humility, and ongoing learning in global health (GH-6) 
課程要求
Students are expected to participate actively. Students should submit an individual paper either an essay on global health issues or commenting on the national global health strategies of his/her choice at the end of semester. The grade will be rated taking into consideration of participation (40%), the midterm report (20%) and final report (40%).
